Hey all, Bryce here! First of all, I want to apologize for not announcing the $150k Stretch Goal before we hit it. The campaign is growing quickly even almost a week in, and the team was promised most of the weekend to themselves, so we weren't going to make them scramble to drop everything in and ruin their R&R.
That being said, THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING US HIT $150k, and we have a neat little new unlock for you:
As of today, all "Signed Original Paperbacks" will be "Signed Custom Paperbacks"!
What does that mean exactly? It means that instead of the Amazon print-on-demand original paperback, everyone who backed at the "Signed Hardcover & Paperback" or above (and/or added the signed paperback as an add-on) will be getting a custom, brand new paperback exclusive to this print run. It's cover and interior will be an adaptation of the Special Edition's (without the fancy bells and whistles like embossing and gilding and the like) and you'll only be able to gaurentee getting it here on the campaign.
But what about a slipcase?
We want to let you know that we hear you on the slipcase! We know you want it! However, due to the cost of production of this Special Edition and the more-accessible price point, we regret to say that we have absolutely zero way of adding the slipcase even as an optional add-on at $150k. To guarentee that they wouldn't cost us a huge amount of money, we would have to charge almost as much for the case as the book at the moment (between $40 and $50 USD), which obviously isn't fair to you guys.
We are, however, discussing it as an add-on if we can hit the $250k mark, when we'll have more backers and a better sense of how many cases we could comfortably bet on getting ordered as add-ons! So don't give up hope yet!
For now, though, I hope the custom paperback is exciting to many of you, and we will continue to keep an eye on the comments for thoughts and feedback moving forward with this campaing and future ones!
Cheers!
